Resolvian technology patent issued.
Fairfax, Virginia, – The United States Patent and Trademark Office (US PTO) has issued Patent # 8,346,683 to Exprentis, Inc., a Virginia-based provider of regulatory compliance solutions for the financial services industry.
The new patent covers ResolvianTM, a knowledge based system for representation and utilization of regulatory knowledge authored by Tom Dybala; Ewa Grzybowska; and Roman Vichr. The system will be used within industries such as financial services to assist in the analysis of events, transactions, and behaviors in an effort to ensure regulatory compliance.
“We are very pleased that this quest has ended in a patent award. The effort started in 2006 with a research grant from the National Science Foundation and now we are well positioned to commercialize and grow a technology we believe will help minimize compliance costs and maintain orderly financial markets,” said Tom Dybala, Exprentis’ Founder and Principal, and the main author of the patent application.
The initial research that led to the development of the ResolvianTM technology was supported by the U.S. government under Grant Number IIP-0750461 from the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the U.S. government has certain rights in this invention. The patent application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/174,301, filed Apr. 30, 2009. The Exprentis team would like to thank NSF for its support of this effort.
